Performances:
The Arts & Ethics Academy will host performances by touring music,
dance, and theater groups. Students will
also attend concerts, festivals and performances in the community, thereby
experiencing diverse folk and fine art forms in their home communities.
Intensives: At the year’s end, The Arts &
Ethics Academy will host a two-day intensive where professional artists share
their mediums, collaborate with one another and students, and create original
work. Intensives will teach through
immersion, encourage collaborative interdisciplinary arts, and help create
visibility in the greater bay area arts community.
Residencies: Nine week residencies will correlate
with the curriculum’s central theme/project, culminating in an end-of semester
presentation. Resident artists will work
closely with teachers to determine the focus of the residency and desired
outcomes. Meeting six hours a week,
residencies will offer students a mini-immersion experience, allowing them to
realize their creative inspirations.
Workshops: Community artists will teach workshops on a unique medium/subject in their area of expertise. Examples include Capoeira, Beat-Boxing, Mask-Making and Sand Painting.
